De Copernicus klok van Zacharie Raingo
€79.00
The first book that does justice to this clockmaker and his work. It describes Raingo's life and work, and, in minute detail, how Raingo's pendulum clocks are made and how they work.
Raingo (born 1775) engineered complex timepieces that displayed not only the hour but also astronomical phenomena such as planetary positions and lunar phases, often housed in richly crafted mantel and table clocks. His works were admired by European royalty and collectors, and today they are still regarded as outstanding examples of technical ingenuity and artistic craftsmanship in clockmaking.
Author Geert Cerulis has been fascinated by everything that measures time since his childhood. He collects and studies watches, pendulum clocks, wall clocks and music boxes. He was also involved for many years with the Uurwerkgezelschap van België, an association for enthusiasts and collectors of timepieces and time-measuring instruments.
Language of the book: Dutch. Hardcover, illustrated, 324 pp.
